Samenvatting

Unmanned aerial vehicles, colloquially known as drones, are currently experiencing a rapid growth. With their wide span of possible, they have given people capabilities they did not always have. Paralleling the increase in innocent or laudable actions, the nefarious use of drones has increased significantly in recent years. Whether employed by reckless or hostile users, misused drones have prompted Public, Private, and State actors to develop countermeasures. The goal of this work is to model complete countermeasures, from detection to neutralisation, in realistic setups, along with a quantisation of the risks associated with the employment of said countermeasures. Through modelling and simulation, key parameters will be identified for performance and effectiveness level evaluation of systems used against various types of unmanned aerial vehicles in realistic scenarios, along with potential side effects.
