Samenvatting

As the complexity of modern military operations increases, the demand for timely, context-relevant knowledge together with responsible and robust intelligent systems continues to grow. In this environment, human expertise needs to be integrated with AI (Artificial Intelligence) based solutions to accomplish defined shared goals. On this behalf, this research develops and proposes a computational ontology for responsible Human-AI teaming. The model is designed following the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KRR) principles and conceptualised within a Complex Adaptive systems (CAS) framework. Accordingly, the model represents the characteristics and functionalities that assure that human and AI agents form responsible teaming agents in military operations by capturing their behaviours and interactions while accounting their autonomy, feedback loops, and trust. Guided by a Design Science Research approach, the model contributes to establishing ethically aligned, responsible, safe, and trustworthy AI systems that enhance decision-making processes in the military domain.
