Samenvatting

This deliverable reports on the results from the activities carried out under the scope of COURAGEOUS WP4 Task 4.2 (Functional test methodology). The work that is carried out in this task, builds upon results reported in D2.3, D3.1 and D3.2. In this task, a functional test methodology for the Detection, Tracking and Identification (DTI) systems is given.
Based on the scenario’s provided in D2.3, a generic methodology has been drawn up that allows for evaluation of operational needs and functional & performance requirements as provided by D3.1 and D3.2 respectively. The test methodology is based on a generic DTI system lay-out.
The test methodology is detailed towards Detection, Tracking and Identification, taking into account relations that exist between the three. Note that identification in the COURAGEOUS context denotes classification of objects of interest (malicious drones). Emphasis is on evaluation of the false alarm rates DTI systems generate in the various functions: false detections, false tracks and wrong classifications (and, if applicable, wrong identifications).
The test methodology is developed to enable the use of the methodology in a relevant environment, thereby taking into account any potential environmental aspect that might influence DTI system performance. In addition, the test methodology is developed with the ability to use any available realistic test terrain.
The proposed test methodology allows for evaluation of both baseline and actual performance levels of DTI systems, using any available test terrain while being robust to contextual constraints e.g., variable weather conditions.
