Burns

The use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of the treatment of thermal burns is far from being universally accepted. Although there appears to be substantial experimental animal evidence of the positive effects of hyperbaric oxygen in many aspects of the pathophysiology of the severe burn, the clinical human studies confirming these effects are lacking. Reasons for this are mostly related to practical and logistic difficulties in organising such studies.
