Numerics & Experiments on Low-Speed High-Altitude Wings

Project: Onderzoek

Projectdetails

Doel van het project

The study aims at developing Passive Flow Control Devices (riblets, dimples, discrete roughness elements, leading-edge protuberances) for high-altitude, low-Re, low-Ma airfoils using experimental and advanced numerical techniques (Variational Multiscale Method); through the partnership, Sleeves for Passive Flow Control Devices can be prototype-tested in-flight using infrared-thermography.

On the path to these technological objectives, several scientific objectives will be pursued: the development of Variational Multiscale Method, the calibration of transitional RANS models for the flows at hand, the execution of in-flight infrared-measurements at high-altitude.

Rol van de instelling

KMS is lead voor alle aspects of the project, with the exception of flight tests.
