Doel van het project

The objective of this project is the development of a framework of interoperable modules for modelling, simulation and optimisation of complex systems.

Recent simulation-based research within the Royal Military Academy is increasingly based on SimJulia, a discrete-event, process-oriented simulation framework written in the Julia programming language. JIFSO will expand upon the existing SimJulia framework by adding interoperable modules which will enhance the current framework in 3 ways:

1. Adding continuous-time simulation functionality to the modelling toolbox (in addition to the current discrete-event capabilities)
2. Creation of an Enhanced Simulation Environment for SimJulia in order to facilitate and standardise recurring requirements such as the storage, management and visualisation of input and output data, the parallel execution of simulations on a cluster and the addition of a web-based interface allowing the remote execution of simulation experiments
3. The creation of a Smart Simulation Optimisation toolbox, which will provide a standardised interface with existing optimisation and artificial intelligence modules but which will also include a hyper-algorithm that uses artificial intelligence techniques in order to detect the optimal combination of algorithms and parameter settings for the optimisation of a specific simulation model.
