Résumé

One main challenge in ballistic protection development is the performance evaluation and assessment of the final product. Three metrics are used for that goal: the perforation/no perforation observation, the residual velocity or the depth of penetration measurements. Different methods have been introduced over the years for measurements processing and ballistic perforation evaluation. Recently, a stochastic approach based on the Brownian motion process has been proposed where the model parameters (the bullet deceleration and the diffusion coefficient) have been assumed constant. The goal of the present work is to analyze the effect of the bullet impact velocity on the model's parameters. The model's parameters dependence on the bullet initial velocity may improve the model fitting to experimental results due to its direct influence on the bullet deceleration during the penetration phenomenon.
