Détails du projet
Objectif du projet
Drones have become integral to modern warfare, enhancing situational awareness and operational effectiveness. However, reliance on traditional navigation methods can compromise mission success in high-intensity warfare, as evidenced by the Russian jamming tactics in Ukraine. To address these vulnerabilities, ORIGAMI will mature existing technologies and methodologies through an iterative testing approach. This includes a multi-sensor integration strategy, incorporating (initially) nine advanced sensing technologies, such as a novel ultra-low latency laser-scanning sensor for real-time spatial awareness. This approach, combined with robust autonomous navigation capabilities, will enable drones to effectively operate in non-permissive environments.
The ORIGAMI system prioritises low-latency, secure communication networks, ensuring reliable data exchange even amidst electronic warfare threats. The use of fault-tolerant multi-agent swarming enhances resilience and adaptability, allowing the drone swarm to operate cohesively, even under adverse conditions. Additionally, a focus on low-SWaPC design principles ensures that the drones remain lightweight and energy-efficient, facilitating large-scale deployment.
The ORIGAMI consortium, consisting of SMEs, academic institutions, and military organisations, fosters innovation through close collaboration. By leveraging open architectures, the project strengthens EU strategic autonomy in defence technologies, promoting interoperability within the EDTIB. ORIGAMI's iterative approach ensures that the developed drone technologies are robust, reliable, and ready for real-world military applications.
