An Artificial Neural Network Model-Based Engineering Tool for Fast Prediction of Blast Wave Propagation and Interaction in Complex Environments

Projet: Recherche

Détails du projet

Objectif du projet

The study aims at developing an efficient engineering tool for the rapid assessment of blast loads in complex environments using an artificial neural network (ANN)-based model. Propagation of blast waves in partially- or fully-confined environments is a complex phenomenon due to the possibility of multiple reflections, diffractions and superposition of waves. The tool is intended to be used for the identification of safety perimeters and evacuation zones, the optimization of a site layout and structural designs, and to manage risk in crowded spaces, such as urban environments, airports, train and subway stations, concert halls and parking lots.

Role de l'organisme

The Military & Protective Engineering Research Unit at the RMA, has experience with the analysis of effects of explosions for over ten years. A strong feature in the department is the ability to perform explosion tests under the guidance of technical personnel with large experience.
