Afroditi Chalkopoulou is researcher at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels, working in the field of internal ballistics with a focus on fluid dynamics simulations.
She earned a MEng in Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she completed her Master’s thesis on hypersonic flows, focusing on optimizing waverider geometry for high-speed aerodynamic performance.
Her project at the RMA focuses on developing a CFD model to study bullet behavior during internal ballistics, investigating how pressure buildup and propellant gas flow influence projectile motion and wear inside the barrel.
