Abstract
After a critical discussion of microwave scattering measurements in free space, it is experimentally shown that the secondary resonance peaks of a cylindrical column are not appreciably affected by the waveguide-plasma distance. Data concerning resonance frequencies and amplitudes are given for a steady uniform magnetic field acting in three rectangular directions. When the magnetic induction B is parallel to the axis of the cylinder, partial comparison between theory and experiment is already possible.
