Abstract
The aim of WP5 is to show that the testing methodology developed in WP4 produces quantifiable, documentable, and evaluable performance data on systems under test and produces comparable evaluation results. The evaluation results from field tests must constitute actionable information for stakeholders in the sense that it will show how well the specific systems under test address the operational scenarios defined in WP2.
In order to validate the methodology and C-UAS systems in different meteorological conditions and in order to ensure a varied response from the C-UAS industry to attend the COURAGEOUS tests, three different and geographically spread trials were scheduled in Greece, Belgium and Spain.
Deliverables D5.1 (Report: Field trial 1) and D5.2 (Report: Field trial 2) were prepared after the field trials in Greece (6-10 March 2023) and Belgium (2-6 October 2023) respectively and included details about the preparation, planning and scheduling of the tests as well as the description of the execution and evaluation of the trial. This deliverable D5.3 (Report: Field trial 3) has been written after the third field trial, which was held in Spain (22-26 April 2024).
The participating companies represented both the state-of-the art systems employed by LEAs, as well as more long-term R&D focused endeavors. The COURAGEOUS Consortium provided the test environment and an opponent “red” team to challenge the companies and refine the testing methodology.
To make something very clear: this test report deliberately excludes any quantitative performance data for individual C-UAS systems. This exclusion is a non-negotiable condition for many participating C-UAS companies, as they are often reluctant to share performance data, particularly for systems that are still in the experimental stage.
