Nonlinear excitation by modulation of new ion resonances in bounded magnetized plasmas

Abstract

The microwave field creating a resonantly sustained bounded plasma is amplitude modulated at a lower frequency. Nonlinear interaction leads to the observation of new resonances in the magneto-ion domain. This constitutes a new method of coupling energy to the ions.
