Abstract

In this paper we review the notion of transmission loss through finite and infinite structures, in particular metallic rebars, concrete slabs and very dry reinforced concrete slabs. It is shown that the near field very close behind a sufficiently large finite-sized structure such as a rebar, a reinforced concrete slab, is a loose approximation of the transmission loss through the equivalent infinite structure.
