Abstract

The density of a resonantly sustained plasma column is observed versus axial magnetic field B₀. A striking pattern showing the role of the cyclotron harmonics and extinction at the cyclotron frequency is observed and theoretically interpreted. The evolution of the plasma "tongues" versus B₀ is suggestive.
