Abstract

This report outlines the NATO STO group IST-179-RTG's investigation into the interoperability of semiautonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV) using Operator Control Units (OCUs). Leveraging the
Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems (JAUS) with Interoperability Profile (IOP), the group enabled
communication between various robots and OCUs. Through multiple workshops and real-world tests, a final
demonstration at the 2022 European Land-Robot Trial showcased a versatile system where three distinct
robots and OCUs seamlessly controlled one another to complete a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and
Nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance mission.
