Abstract

The constant severity increase we are witnessing in the quality requirements in aeronautics has pushed in the recent years NDT (Non Destructive Testing) techniques to be a factor of primary importance in the manufacturing and final cost of aeronautical components. In attempt to improve NDT performances for composites and reduce final cost, THZ (terahertz) technology is tested on a wide variety of typical composite structures used in aeronautics. This paper provides a brief description of the THz technology and shows the potential capability of the technique in the inspection of aeronautical components, both with 2D and 3D motion platform.
