Abstract

During the cyclic loading of quasi-brittle materials, one can observe several distinct phenomena, namely permanent deformation, stiffness reduction and hysteretic unloading/loading loops. The permanent deformation and the stiffness reduction can be taken into account with damage-plasticity models, while hysteretic effects are generally neglected. In this paper a model is presented where damage is coupled with a mesoscopic Preisach hysteretic model.
