Does the Use of (Semi) Autonomous Weapons Influence military ethics? A multi-disciplinary research on responsibility.

Project: Research

Project Details

Goal of the project

The study aims to examine the relation between the introduction of (semi-)autonomous weapons and the notion of moral responsibility. From an ethical point of view, we will study whether this new military technology will provoke a shift in our understanding of military role-responsibility. From an empirical point of view, we examine whether the autonomous character of weapon systems will affect a human operator’s sense of moral responsibility.
