Creation of innovative "humidity to electricity" renewable energy conversion technology towards

Project: Research

Project Details

Goal of the project

CATCHER project is aimed at the development of innovative technology to exploit the atmospheric humidity for direct conversion to electricity, thus gaining a new sustainable source of renewable energy and to contribute to implementing the specific priorities for strengthening the EU leadership on renewables. The main goal of the project is the development and optimization of a novel water adsorption efficient design of functional layer via “quantum diode” and “electret” device-types and the addition of adsorption membranes in the active layer bulk.

Role of the organisation

RMA team will lead comprehensive characterization/analysis of the elaborated materials and devices (WP2). In the frame of this work RMA will provide treatability studies on adsorption kinetics, thermodynamics and mechanism of the water vapor at the “gas-solid” interface, surface structural and energetical characteristics, its potential for scalability also will be evaluated through the wide range of experimental and theoretical tools. The RMA will organize a workshop at the end of the second year of the project
