Project Details
Goal of the project
The project proposes to investigate and develop a novel context-adaptive sensor fusion-based surface mine detection framework, combining recently developed sensing modalities including visible light (VIS), near- and short-wave infrared (NIR and SWIR), thermal infrared (TIR), hyper-spectral imaging (HSI), polarization imaging (PI), and geophysical mapping using magnetometry (MAG). ARIES prioritizes passive sensing systems to reduce detection by opposing forces. Surface-laid mines have unique spectral and geophysical signatures that can be detected by scanning along a sufficiently wide range of wavelengths and properties.
