Adaptive Laser Countermeasures Against Advanced IR-Guided Threats

Project: Research

Project Details

Goal of the project

This project aims to develop adaptive laser-based countermeasures that react quickly to modern infrared (IR) threats. It will evaluate how atmospheric conditions affect their effectiveness against imaging seekers through laboratory and field trials. The goal is to advance the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) from 3
to 5 by transitioning from controlled environments to outdoor testing. Key use cases include enhancing Directional Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) self-protection for A400M and creating a laser-based defense against IR-guided small unmanned aerial systems (sUAS).
