The hyperspectral research unit investigates the use of hyperspectral imaging for Security and Defense applications including tactical target detection, surveillance mapping, chemical and biological warfare, hazmat, chemicals identification and atmospheric modelling. Spectral based dedicated algorithms and tools are developed and implemented to imaging data in the visible and the thermal infra-red domains. A continuous effort is also invested in the fusion of hyperspectral data with other state-of-the-art sensors, such as SAR, LIDAR, optical and thermal images in the scope of security and defence applications.
