We are a team of students from Belgian universities[1]. Our endeavor is to design, assemble, test, and fly an amateur unguided rocket aiming at participation to the European Rocketry Challenge[2] (EuRoC). We seek to improve skills related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics together with management & support skills. Soft skills are of course equally important.
Our student team is jointly mentored by Academic and Research staff from Belgian universities who collectively engage in this education project to drive innovation , sustainable competitiveness, and skill development which are essential for a better workforce and citizens in the future.
In accordance with EuRoc requirements, functional payloads take the form of creative scientific experiments and technology demonstrations. In accordance with the amateur rocketry limitations, motors and propellants are off-the-shelf products commercially available in the EU and not subject to ITAR regulation. Safety is our main concern along all phases of the project.
Given the educational nature of the project, we do not intend to deal with confidential information. Information is shared to all members of the student team. Universities shall retain ownership of the methods and know-how developed by the University's academic or research supervisor and/or the students in connection with Be-Rocket (foreground). Universities shall retain ownership of the methods and know-how developed by the University's academic or research supervisor and/or the students prior to Be-Rocket (background). Nevertheless, Be-Rocket partners shall retain the right to use them for scientific or educational teaching purposes. Be-Rocket is a non-profit team.
Be-Rocket consists in essence of fundamental research for education through projects embedded in the master or bachelor degree curricula through software or technology that are publicly available. We are the end-user of the software and technology developed within Be-Rocket. By its educational nature and the limitations of amateur rocketry, Be-Rocket does not fall under the list of military[3] or dual use[4] goods as defined by the EU. Ecole Royale Militaire – Koninklijke Militaire School is an academic partner and is our point of access with educational finality to a launch site on a Belgian Defence range as one of the intermediate objectives of Be-Rocket.
