Teaching Unit - Materials Selection and Mechanical Design (0.8 ECTS)

Additional Description

This 0.8 ECTS point module explores the basic principles of materials selection and processes in relation to the expected mechanical performance. Students will learn how to select appropriate materials based on application constraints, performance criteria and durability requirements. The course also covers methods for evaluating material properties, analysing manufacturing processes and their impact on final performance. Practical case studies and decision support tools are used to illustrate the links between mechanical design, materials and manufacturing processes.
