Polar Sleep: Understanding Circadian Challenges and Gender Dynamics

Activity: Talk or presentationOral scientific presentation

Description

Sleep is disturbed in Antarctica, and this is most often attributed to light disturbances (24-hour darkness in winter, and 24-hour sunlight in summer). However this work considers how other factors might impact sleep (isolation, women as minority in confined stations, and barren landscape). This talk offers implications directly for space travel, and implications for military operations in polar latitudes.
