Description

The SAS-SCI-207 Research Task Group (RTG) is a NATO-led initiative aimed at evaluating and developing AI-based Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies, including large language models (LLMs), for military applications. The RTG seeks to create a standardized framework for assessing AI technologies in defence contexts, enhancing NATO's ability to integrate and exploit AI-driven solutions.

Scientific Objectives:
1. Comprehensive Assessment of AI Technologies:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative evaluations of cutting-edge AI models in NLP.
- Identify the capabilities, limitations, and potential applications in defence contexts.
2. Development of a Benchmarking Framework:
- Formulate a repeatable scientific framework for assessing and comparing AI technologies.
- Ensure its applicability across NATO nations.
3. Use Case Analysis & AI Model Development:
- Define a problem statement and conduct an in-depth study of AI model validation and application.
4. Infrastructure & Collaboration Assessment:
- Identify practical requirements for multinational AI collaborations.
- Provide recommendations for future NATO-led AI initiatives.
