Description
A learning organization is described as an ideal state, allowing an organization to make optimal use of employees’ potential through enhanced connectivity and collaborative learning. Trainers are considered to play a key role herein and in fostering a climate that facilitates collaborative learning to pursue organizational growth. In its turn, trainers’ own professional development is a key building block of learning organizations. As training is paramount to establishing military capabilities, trainers’ professional development is of interest to the military as well. It is widely acknowledged that virtual/digital tools can be powerful enablers of mutual learning and professional development in organizations. However, due to the scattered nature of this research field, clear-cut guidelines on how we can optimally leverage these tools’ potential and overcome possible pitfalls are lacking. The present study, a systematic literature review, bridges three research fields, namely 1) trainers’ professional development, 2) forms of collaborative learning and 3) the effective use of virtual/digital tools in professional settings. We aim to shed new light on uncertainties when exploring the intersection of these fields. The objective is to examine the effective usage of the virtual/digital tool to enhance trainers’ collaborative learning for professional development. This study retrieved existing empirical studies from four databases. Literature focused on trainers and explored the influence of virtual/digital tools on collaborative learning was scrutinized. Building on this systematic overview, this study offers practical insights for stakeholders across the military who seek to optimize digital/virtual tool usage for trainers’ professional development and learning organization enhancement.Period | 10 Oct 2023 |
