Abstract
In this paper several linear vibration-based damage detection techniques are presented. Several aspects concerning the ability to detect, localize and quantify the damage are discussed on a basis of damage detection experiments (in laboratory conditions) performed on a mechanical structure. A comparison between several techniques that were used to detect the damage is made. As mechanical structure we have chosen to use a slat track of an Airbus A340. A slat track is an important part of an aircraft wing that enables the enlargement of the wing surface and angle during take off and landing. Damage on such a safety critical component must be detected as early as possible.
