Abstract

The dispersion of sniper weapon systems is influenced by various factors contributing to the overall error budget. This paper presents a comprehensive approach to the computation of the error budget using stochastic simulations applied to long range shooting. By leveraging probabilistic modelling and Monte Carlo simulations, we analyze how each source of error affects the weapon system’s accuracy and precision. Key variables, including wind velocity, temperature, muzzle velocity variations, and error in measurements, are incorporated into the model to reflect real-world operational conditions. The results provide valuable insights into the critical components of the error budget, aiding in the refinement of weapon system design and training methodologies. This study contributes to enhancing the operational effectiveness of weapon systems by quantifying precision-degrading influences under a wide range of conditions.
