Emerging powers’ maritime nationalism and its consequences for Belgium and the EU

Economic nationalism is on the rise worldwide. This project will analyse how Belgium’s security in the maritime domain is challenged by this trend. It will focus in particular on the threat posed by the growing maritime ambitions of emerging powers such as China, India, Brazil and Turkey. The project will study the policies of these countries in the maritime domain, assess their impact and suggest possible responses.
