Additional Description

This 0.2 ECTS module is entitled 'Ballistic Impacts: Fundamentals and Applications'. It deals with the interactions in the projectile/armour/target system during a ballistic impact. Key concepts include projectile and armour damage analysis and target deformation. Students will be introduced to the principles of mechanical characterisation of various materials and their ballistic response. An introduction to numerical simulation applied to the human thorax and organs protected by ballistic systems completes the course, with an emphasis on material behaviour.
